Brandon Fain Wins the 2019 Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching

The computer science department is proud to acknowledge that PhD candidate Brandon Fain was selected as a 2019 Teaching Award Recipient. The 2019 recipients of the Dean’s Awards for Excellence in Mentoring, Excellence in Teaching and Inclusive Excellence in Graduate Education were just announced on January 14, and the Awards Ceremony will take place in March 2019 at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
 
This is a well-deserved recognition for Brandon's hard work. A highly competitive award, Brandon was chosen from a large pool of university-wide nominees. His focus areas include teaching and studying theory and algorithms, and his advisor is Professor Kamesh Munagala. Professor Ashwin Machanavajjhala stated that "Brandon is by far the best graduate student teacher I have encountered in my career!"
 
With these prestigious dean’s awards, the university honors recipients for helping to create a vibrant culture at Duke that values exemplary mentoring, inspires exceptional teaching, and fosters an inclusive and diverse university community. This marks the the 22nd year for the Teaching Award.
