Assisting Duke Students

Connecting Alumni & Students

Mentoring a student on Duke's campus

There are many ways alumni can connect with students.

Be contactable via the Duke Alumni Network

As part of the Duke Alumni website, current Duke students have limited access to alumni information. Students can search through alumni, but cannot see contact information (such as email address or phone). Instead, if a student would like to reach out to an alum, that student will be guided through a form that will send an email to the alum’s preferred email address. Alumni can then either respond/engage with the student, or not. You have the ability at any time to opt out of being searchable or contactable by students. Or, you can make your profile more searchable by checking the “contact me about” box in your profile—indicating you have more of a willingness to be contacted.  Visit For Our Alumni to learn how to update your profile. You can also seek out or volunteer to be a mentor.

Get and give advice via Ask a Blue Devil

Ask a Blue Devil is an AI driven tool to ask questions of and answer questions from students and other alumni.

Get involved directly with the department

Be a mentor, give a talk, provide an internship, sponsor a student attending a conference - the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.  Contact Amy Peters at amy.peters@duke.edu to talk about your ideas.
