Long Term

Long term goals are functions that the CSL accomplish over long periods, either as periodic routines, or progressive projects.

Systems Maintenance

These services are vital for the function and/or integrity of the lab, but are not considered ``emergencies'' or ``requests''. Generally, they are functions that need to be fulfilled daily. They have high priority but low urgency. Backups are a prime example: they must be done daily, but it does not really matter what time during the day we change the tapes.

Infrastructure & Planning

These are long-term planning and mission-defining activities of the CSL. They tend to have high priority but low urgency. In other words, they really need to be done, but they usually are not required in a time frame of hours or days, but rather in months or years. Planning yearly machine purchases, investigating new technologies, developing new systems and strategies are part of this classification.
