Introduction

The computing facilities of the Duke University Department of Computer Science are collectively managed as the Computer Science Laboratory (CSL). The CSL consists of departmental: computing hardware, software, peripherals, and the support staff that administers and manages the computing environment. The purpose of the CSL is to provide computing services to departmental faculty, students, and staff, in support of the department's teaching and research missions. Limited CSL staff resources necessitate a system of priorities that mirror the inherent importance of departmental issues. In general, issues will be prioritized by their scope and urgency to the department as a whole. An individual issue will receive a priority based on the number of people affected and the seriousness of the issue. To aid in the successful completion of the CSL duties, the following system has been created to prioritize CSL staff activities.
